In Lincoln County, a St. Louis woman who police say was drunk and caused two crashes when she drove the wrong way on Highway 40/61, has been charged with multiple offenses.

Terri Blachek, age 44 from the 3800 block of Illinois Avenue, was charged with two counts of felony assault while intoxicated resulting in injury, two counts of misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, troopers went to a serious crash at 2:46 p.m., on October 13, 2012 on Highway 40/61, south of Route C near Moscow Mills. The crash involved Blachek’s Chevrolet Lumina and an Isuzu Rodeo by Steven Fleming, age 61 from St. Charles.

Blachek was unresponsive when police got there, but a bottle of peach vodka was observed in plain view on the passenger floorboard, according to court records.
Fleming was seriously injured, with broken arms, broken ankles, fractured ribs, a tear in his left lung and a fractured femur. The passenger in his car, Ryan Fleming, age 34 from Troy, Missouri was also injured. He got eight stitches to close a cut on his left arm, had an abrasion on his forehead, and suffered several dislocated toes and pain in his left shoulder, police said.

The crash investigation concluded that Blachek was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 40/61 when she encountered Flemings’ car. Both drivers braked and swerved but collided head-on, police said.

In addition, Blachek had narrowly avoided a collision with another car, occupied by driver Dennis Yeager and his passenger, Melody Yeager. The Yeagers’ car ended up in a ditch, police said.

A blood test on Blachek revealed her blood-alcohol content was 0.149 percent, nearly double the legal limit of 0.08 percent, court records show.
