Columbia Woman Dies After Colliding With A Dump Truck

Columbia, MO – A woman died early yesterday morning after colliding with a dump truck at Oakland Gravel Road and Stark Avenue.

At 9:43 a.m. yesterday, Betty G. Kemper, 81, of Columbia died after colliding with a 2011 Kenworth Dump truck that was making a left turn from Stark Avenue onto Oakland Gravel Road. She was driving a 1998 GMC sport utility vehicle according to Sgt. Brian Leer of the Boone County Sheriff’s Department.

Firefighters responding to the accident had to use hydraulic rescue tools to safely cut Kemper out of the vehicle before she was taken by ambulance to University Hospital with life threatening injuries.

Kemper was pronounced dead at University Hospital shortly after arrival and was the only person in the vehicle.

The driver of the dump truck was not injured.
