Independence Woman Seriously Injured in Crash

In Platte County, a crash involving one woman from Independence is seriously injured.

On May 29, 2013 at approximately 5:50 a.m., Justin Wakefield, age 22 of Kansas City, Missouri was operating a 1991 Ford. Sherri Berry, age 46 of Independence, Missouri was operating a 2007 Toyota.

At that said date and time, both Sherri Berry and Justin Wakefield were traveling from the westbound ramp Highway 152 to northbound I-29. The crash occurred when Sherri Berry was lawfully stopped in traffic on the ramp and Justin Wakefield overtook Sherri and collided with the rear-end of her vehicle.

Sherri Berry received serious injuries and was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital on Barry Road. Justin Wakefield had no reported injuries.

According the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Sherri Berry was wearing her seat belt and Justin Wakefield was not.

Justin’s 1991 Ford received moderate damages and Sherri’s 2007 Toyota received extensive damages from the collision. Both vehicles were towed by Good Times Tow.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop A and the Kansas City Police Department.
