Multiple Pedestrian Crashes Involve Fatality and Serious Injuries

In Green County, a Springfield man is seriously injured after a pedestrian-vehicular crash.

On May 30, 2013 at approximately 7:45 a.m., Jim Gaiper, age 59 of Success, Missouri was operating a 2005 Peterbilt tractor.

At that said date and time, Jim Gaiper was traveling in the southbound direction on freeway 160 and one mile west of Brookline. The crash occurred when Jim Gaiper reversed and backed into pedestrian, Glen Yake, age 60 of Springfield, Missouri.

Glen Yake was seriously injured and transported to Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Jim Gaiper was uninjured.

Jim Gaiper’s 2005 Peterbilt tractor was not damaged in the collision.

In Polk County, a trash truck driver is seriously injured in a pedestrian-vehicular collision.

On May 30, 2013 at approximately 3:44 p.m., Gale Davis, age 41 of Bolivar, Missouri was operating a 2004 GMC Envoy.

At that said date and time, Gale Davis was traveling in the eastbound direction at Route KK and two miles west of Pleasant Hope. The collision occurred as Marty Dickens, age 45 of Fair Grove, Missouri was working on the job as a trash truck driver and walked into the path of Gale Davis’ vehicle.

Marty Dickens received serious injuries from the collision and was transported by ambulance to Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Gale David was not injured.

Gale Davis’ 2004 GMC Envoy received minor damages and was driven from the scene of the crash.

In Lafayette County, a man from Bates City was fatally injured after a pedestrian-vehicular crash.

On May 31, 2013 at approximately 10:21 p.m., Wayne Wardlow, age 45 of Oak Grove, Missouri was operating a 2004 Chevrolet.

At that said date and time, Wayne Wardlow was traveling in the westbound direction on south outer road of I-70. The collision occurred when Wayne’s vehicle collided with pedestrian, William Clark, age 40 of Bates City, Missouri whom was walking on North Fogline. After impact, William Clark was projected in a northwesterly direction and Wayne’s vehicle came to a controlled stop on the shoulder of the south outer road.

William Clark was transported to Centerpoint Medical Center and pronounced dead by emergency Doctor Michael Watts and Doctor Lorraine Duncan. He was then transported to Centerpoint Medical Center Morgue by SNI Valley EMS.

Wayne Wardlow’s 2004 Chevrolet received minor damages and was driven from the scene of the crash.
