Three Teenagers Dead After Two-vehicle Collision

In Sainte Genevieve County, three teenagers are killed after the driver of the vehicle lost control and crashed.

On June 13, 2013 at approximately 12:17 p.m., Paige Johnson, age 19 of St. Genevieve, Missouri was operating a 2000 Pontiac Grand AM along with Clayton Grass, age 19, and Lucas Welton, age 12. Dennis Klump, age 52 of St. Genevieve, Missouri was operating a 2003 GMC Sonoma.

At that said date and time, Paige Johnson was traveling in the northbound direction as Dennis Klump was traveling in the southbound direction on Highway 61 and north of Buehler Road. The crash occurred as Paige attempted to overtake another vehicle and lost control. She then over corrected into the southbound lanes of traffic and collided with Dennis’ vehicle.

Clayton Grass and Lucas Welton were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by coroner Leo Basler and then taken by Sainte Genevieve County coroner to St. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital. Paige Johnson was in critical condition and transported by air evacuation to Barnes Jewish Hospital. Later Paige was pronounced dead by Dr. Nicholas Musisca. Dennis Klump received moderate injuries and was transported by air evacuation to Mercy Hospital in Jefferson.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Dennis Klump was the only participant involved in this crash who was not wearing a seat belt.

Paige Johnson’s 2000 Pontiac Grand AM and Dennis Klump’s 2003 GMC Sonoma received total damages from the collision and were towed by Stuppy’s Towing.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop C.
