Motorcycle Crash on Missouri Highway 13

In Greene County, a motorcycles failure to yield resulted in a collision with another vehicle and serious injuries for both parties.

On June 29, 2013 at approximately 3:20 p.m., Adam Kirk, age 36 of Pleasant Hope, Missouri was operating a 2008 Harley Davidson Sportster motorcycle. Anna Cortez, age 43 of Bolivar, Missouri was operating a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee along with passengers Jose Cortez, age 65, and Graciela Cortez, age 64.

At that said date and time, Adam Kirk was traveling in the westbound direction as Anna Cortez was traveling in the northbound direction on Missouri Highway 13 and five miles north of Springfield, Missouri. The collision occurred as Adam Kirk failed to yield to Anna Cortez and pulled into the path of her vehicle. Anna Cortez’s vehicle ran off the roadway and rolled down an embankment.

Adam Kirk received serious injuries from the collision as he was ejected off of his motorcycle. He was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Anna Cortez received serious injuries and was transported to Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. Graciela and Jose Cortez were moderately injured in the crash and were taken to Cox South Hospital.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, all participants involved in this crash were wearing their seat beltsand or safety equipment.

Adam Kirk’s 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle received total damages and was towed by Henry’s Wrecker of Brookline, Missouri. Anna Cortez’s 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee received total damages and was towed by All Night Towing of Springfield, Missouri.

This motorcycle crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop D.
