Tennessee Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash

In Buchanan County, one Tennessee man is killed after the at-fault driver pulled into the path of his motorcycle.

On August 10, 2013 at approximately 7:15 a.m., Steve Hadorn, age 82 of Stewartsville, Missouri was operating a 2000 Jeep Cherokee along with his wife, Jo Anne Hadorn, age 82. Eric Gorrell, age 37 of Hendersonville, Tennessee was operating a 1999 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

At that said date and time, Steve Hadorn was traveling in the northbound direction as Eric Gorrell was traveling in the eastbound direction on US Highway 36 and 10 miles east of St. Joseph. The crash occurred as Steve’s vehicle pulled into the path of the motorcycle, causing the motorcycle to collide with his passenger side door. After impact, Steve continued north across westbound lanes and rolled to a stop.

Eric Gorrell received serious injuries and was transported to Heartland Regional Medical Center in critical condition. Later, Eric was pronounced dead by Dr. Simpson as a result of his injuries from the collision. Steve Hadorn received moderate injuries and was transported by EMS to Heartland Regional. Jo Anna Hadorn received minor injuries and was taken by a private vehicle to Heartland Regional.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Jo Anne Hadorn was the only occupant that was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision.

Eric Gorrell’s 1999 Harley-Davidson motorcycle received total damages and was towed by Randy’s Tow of Gower. Steve Hadorn’s 2000 Jeep Cherokee received moderate damages and was driven from the scene.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop H, the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department, and the Stewartville Fire Department.
