Father and Daughter Motorcycle Accident

In Ralls County, a Father driving a motorcycle with his daughter failed to negotiate a corner resulting in his death.

On October 2, 2013 at approximately 7:15 p.m., Alphonse Berghager, age 43 of Hannibal, Missouri was operating a 2003 Harley Davidson Motorcycle with passenger Olivia Berghager, age 15 of Hannibal, Missouri.

At that said date and time, Alphonse was traveling southbound on route O and failed to negotiate a corner, causing him to run off the right side of the roadway and overturn several times. This ejected both Alphonse and Olivia from the motorcycle.

Alphonse was pronounced deceased at 7:45 p. m. by Ralls County Coroner Denise Goodwin, and was taken to O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, Missouri. Olivia suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital, in Hannibal Missouri.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, both Alphonse and Olivia wear wearing safety equipment.

Alphonse’s 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle received extensive damages and was towed by Tallman’s Towing of Hannibal, Missouri.

This Fatality crash was investigated by Sgt. Greg Leftwich, and assisted by Trooper Dominick Walker, The Ralls County Sheriff’s Office, Hannibal Rural Fire, and Marion County Ambulance. This was Troop B’s 20th fatality for 2013.
