In Dunklin County, an at-fault driver attempting to pass other vehicles ends up striking oncoming vehicle head-on.
On October 15, 2013 at approximately, 3:40 p.m., Danny Thomas, age 24 of Kennett, Missouri was operating a 2006 Buick Lucerne. Jerry Carnell, age 64 of Kennett, Missouri was operating a 2002 Ford Ranger.
At that said date and time, Danny Thomas was traveling westbound on US 412 about three miles west of Kennett. Danny was attempting to pass other vehicles when he struck eastbound driver Jerry Carnell head-on.
Danny Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by coroner James Powell. He was transported by coroner to Bradshaw Funeral Home in Kennett. Jerry Carnell received moderate injuries and was taken to Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center by Medic One Ambulance.
According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Danny was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision.
Danny’s 2006 Buick Lucerne received total damages and was towed by McMahon’s Towing of Kennett, Missouri. Jerry’s 2002 Ford Ranger received total damages and was towed by Lowry’s Towing of Kennett, Missouri.
This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Dunklin County Sheriffs, and Kennett Fire Department. This was Troop E 46th fatality for 2013.
