On October 3, 2013 at approximately, 1:45 p.m., Quarlene House, age 57 of Shell Knob, Missouri was operating a 2001 Dodge Durango. James Echols, age 79 of Shell Knob, Missouri was operating a 1996 Ford Econoline Van along with passenger Patricia Kobashigawa, age 65 of Shell Knob, Missouri.
At that said date and time, James Echols was traveling in the northbound direction as Quarlene House was traveling in the southbound direction on Missouri Highway 39 and two miles north of Carr Lane, Missouri. The crash occurred as Quarlene House crossed the center line and collided with James’ vehicle head-on.
James Echols and Patricia Kobashigawa were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Barry County coroner, Charles McManus, and then transported to Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville, Missouri. Quarlene House received serious injuries and was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
James’ 1996 Ford Econoline Van received total damages and was towed by Chris Towing of Lampe, Missouri. And Quarlene’s 2001 Dodge Durango also received total damages and was towed by Lakeside Towing in Shell Knob.
This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop D. By law, the surviving driver was tested for alcohol.
