I-170 Wrongful Death Crash Kills Driver and Passenger

In St. Louis County, the passenger and driver inside a vehicle are killed after the driver lost control and overturned on I-170.

On November 17, 2013 at approximately 5:50 a.m., Nicholas Nelson, age 27 of St. Louis, Missouri was operating a 2012 Chrysler 200 along with passenger Ilana Rogers-Elbert, age 38 of St. Louis, Missouri.

At that said date and time, Nicholas was traveling in the northbound direction on I-170 and north of Scudder Road. The crash occurred as Nicholas lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the left side of the roadway, colliding with the median cable. Then the vehicle continued to slide, struck a sign post, overturned, and came to a rest on top of the guard rail.

Both Nicholas Nelson and Ilana Rogers-Elbert were pronounced dead by medical examiner, Elizabeth Dueker, and then transported to the St. Louis County Morgue.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, neither Nicholas Nelson nor Ilana Rogers-Elbert was wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash.

Nicholas’ 2012 Chrysler 200 received total damages and was towed by A1 Towing.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop C.
