Teenager Seriously Injured in Motorcycle Crash

In Lincoln County, a teenager is seriously injured after colliding head-on with his motorcycle into a stopped car.

On December 4, 2013 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Richard Deak, age 18 of Silex, Missouri was operating a 2002 Yamaha motorcycle. Karen Cobb, age 50 of Eolia, Missouri was the owner of the parked 2010 Jeep Wrangler.

At that said date and time, Richard Deak was traveling eastbound while Karen’s vehicle was stopped and facing the westbound direction on Duckett Road and just east of Haddock Road. The crash occurred as Richard Deak collided head-on with Karen’s stopped car. The impact from the collision caused Richard Deak to eject from the motorcycle.

Richard Deak received serious injuries and was life-flighted to Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Richard Deak was not wearing safety equipment at the time of the collision. Also indicated in the report is that Karen Cobb was uninjured in the crash.

Richard Deak’s 2002 Yamaha motorcycle received total damages and was towed at a later time. Karen Cobb’s 2010 Jeep Wrangler received minor damages and was driven from the scene of the crash.

This motorcycle crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop C.
