Pedestrian Seriously Injured

In Lafayette County, a pedestrian is seriously injured after a vehicle slid on the ice covered road and crashed into another vehicle.

On January 10, 2014 at approximately 7:15 a.m., Devonn Ritchie, age 17 of Oak Grove, Missouri was operating a 1988 Oldsmobile. Austin Blackston, age 17 of Bates City, Missouri was operating a 1998 Honda.

At that said date and time, Devonn Ritchie was traveling in the westbound direction on Golden Belt Road and one mile west of Walton Road. The crash occurred as Austin’s vehicle was stationary due to being involved in a previous crash when Devonn begun to slide on the ice covered road and collided with Austin’s vehicle. The impact from the collision caused the vehicle to hit Austin, whom was standing outside of his vehicle.

Austin received serious injuries and was transported by SNI Valley EMS to Centerpoint Hospital. Devonn Ritchie was uninjured and did not seek medical attention.

Austin Blackston’s 1998 Honda received extensive damages and was towed by Walker Tire. Devonn Ritchie’s 1988 Oldsmobile received extensive damages and was towed by Wilkinson’s Tow.

This pedestrian crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop A.
