Police Officer Hit While Working on Crash

In Warren County, a Warrenton police officer was injured when he was hit by a sliding pickup truck as he was working at the scene of an earlier crash.

On February 14, 2014 at approximately 3:00 p.m., Michael Heyman, age 19 of O’Fallon, Missouri was operating a 2002 Dodge Ram. Kaylie Deneberg, age 22 of Columbia, Missouri was operating a 2003 Jeep Liberty.

At that said date and time, Michael was traveling in the eastbound direction on I-70 at the 193 mile marker. The crash occurred as pedestrian and police officer, Charles Lancy, age 32 of Warrenton, Missouri was standing behind Kaylie’s vehicle gathering accident information when Michael lost control of his vehicle on the icy roadway and collided into Kaylie’s vehicle and then into officer Charles Lancey.

Charles Lancey received moderate injuries and was transported by Warren County ambulance to St. Joseph West Hospital.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Michael’s 2002 Dodge Ram received moderate damages and left his vehicle at the scene of the crash. Kaylie’s 2003 Jeep Liberty received total damages and was towed by Warrenton Tire and Muffler.

This pedestrian crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop C.
