Passenger Ejected and Seriously Injured in One-car Crash

In Bates County, the passenger of a vehicle is ejected after the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn.

On March 1, 2014 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Dominic Martello, age 30 of Joplin, Missouri was operating a 2002 Pontiac along with passenger Gary Busby, age 22 of Joplin, Missouri.

At that said date and time, Dominic was traveling in the southbound direction on I-49 at the 126 mile marker. The crash occurred as Dominic lost control of his vehicle, causing him to travel off the right side of the highway. As a result, the vehicle overturned and ejected both Dominic and Gary.

Gary Busby and Dominic Martello both received serious injuries and were transported to Bates County Memorial Hospital.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, neither Gary nor Dominic was wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

Dominic’s 2002 Pontiac received total damages and was towed by Don’s Towing.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop A and the Bates County Sheriff’s Office.
