Fatality Accident in Cape Girardeau County

In Cape Girardeau County, A Car Turns into the Path of a Motorcycle causing a Fatality.

On May 20, 2014 at approximately 10:25 p.m., Cody McSwain, age 26 of Scott City, Missouri was operating a 2008 Suzuki 600 Motorcycle. Shawn Lee, age 22 of Scott City, Missouri was operating a 1994 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup.

At that said date and time, on route AB at Rhodes Travel Center, Shawn lee was attempting to make a left turn, but pulled into the path of Cody McSwain.

Cody McSwain was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:35 p.m. by Cape Girardeau coroner John Clifton. Cody was transported to Cape Girardeau County Morgue. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol it is unknown is Shawn Lee received any injuries.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol both Cody and Shawn where wearing safety devises during the time of the collision.

Cody’s 2008 Suzuki 600 Motorcycle was totaled and towed by Baker’s Towing in Scott City, Missouri. Shawn’s 1994 Chevrolet Silverado pickup received extensive damages and was towed by Baker’s Towing in Scott City, Missouri.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol with the assistance of Troop E, and major crash investigation unit.
