Two Drivers Killed in Car-motorcycle Collision

In Newton County, both drivers are killed as a result of a head-on collision.

On April 29, 2014 at approximately 9:20 a.m., Joseph Morris, age 42 of Neosho, Missouri was operating a 1991 Chevrolet S10. Hector Huertas, age 24 of Carthage, Missouri was operating a 2003 Yamaha motorcycle.

At that said date and time, Joseph Morris was traveling in the southbound direction while Hector Huertas was traveling in the northbound direction on Missouri Highway 43 and .25 miles north of Seneca. The crash occurred as Hector’s vehicle crossed the center line and collided with Joseph’s head-on.

Both Joseph Morris and Hector Huertas were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Newton County Deputy Coroner, Brian Artherton. Joseph Morris was transported to Campbell Biddlecome Funeral Home in Seneca, Missouri. Hector Huertas was transported to Chappel Funeral Home in Webb City, Missouri.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Joseph Morris was wearing his seat belt and it is unknown whether or not Hector was wearing his at the time of the collision.

Joseph Morris’ 1991 Chevrolet S10 received extensive damages and Hector’s 2003 Yamaha motorcycle received total damages. Both vehicles were towed by Doug’s Towing of Seneca.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop D. This is Troop D’s 22nd and 23rd fatalities for 2014.
