Douglas County Crash Causes Serious Injuries

In Douglas County, a vehicle crosses into oncoming traffic while making a left turn and causes a two car crash.

On June 4, 2014 at approximately 1:55 p.m., Jeffrey Haughton, age 70 of Theodosia, Missouri was operating a 1997 Ford F150. Stanley Collins, age 54 of Wasola, Missouri was operating a 1994 Chevrolet Geo Metro with passenger Marsha Collins, age 54 of Wasola, Missouri.

At that said date and time, Jeffrey was traveling on Highway 5 about 322 feet from North Highway JJ. Jeffrey executed a left turn into oncoming traffic causing Stanley to strike his vehicle.

Stanley received serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to AVA then flown by Air Ambulance to Mercy Hospital, in Springfield. Marsha received serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to AVA then flown by Air Ambulance to Mercy Hospital, in Springfield. Jeffrey received minor injuries and according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report he was seeking his own medical treatment.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Jeffrey was the only one involved in this accident that was wearing his seat belt.

Stanley’s 1994 Chevrolet Geo Metro was totaled and towed by Sam’s Wrecking Service. Jeffrey’s 1997 Ford F150 received Moderate damages and was towed by Jim’s Body Shop.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop G.
