Failure to Negotiate a Curve Causes Serious Injuries

In Camden County, a driver fails to negotiate a curve and crosses center line crashing into oncoming vehicle.

On June 8th, 2014 at approximately 7:25 p.m., Jeffrey Moffitt, age 48 of Sunrise Beach, Missouri was operating a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado. Andrew Caddell, age 18 from Sunrise Beach, Missouri was operating a 2009 Nissan Sentra with passenger Megan Rice, age 17 of Sunrise Beach, Missouri.

At that said date and time, Jeffrey Moffitt was traveling on Route TT when he failed to negotiate a curve. Jeffrey ran off the right side of the roadway then over corrected crossing the center-line causing him to strike Andrew Caddell’s car.

Andrew Caddell received moderate injuries and was transported by Lake West Ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital. Megan Rice received serious injuries and was transported by Lake West Ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital then flown by Staff for Life to University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Jeffrey Moffitt received minor injuries and refused treatment at the Scene.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol all were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident.

Jeffrey Moffitt received two counts of Assault 2nd degree, failure to drive on right half of roadway in auto accident, and no insurance. This information was received by Missouri State Highway Patrol Online Arrest Reports.

Andrew’s 2009 Nissan Sentra was totaled and towed from the scene by Laurie Motors. Jeffrey’s 2000 Chevrolet Silverado received extensive damages and was towed by Laurie Motors.

This crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop F and the Camden County Sheriff’s Office.
