Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Johnson County

In Johnson County, a man pulls into the path of an oncoming motorcycle causing a collision resulting in the motorcycle overturning and ejecting the driver.

On June 11, 2014 at approximately 12:00 p.m., Wayne Maxwell, age 67 of Windsor, Missouri was operating a 2006 GMC. Aaron Miller, age 40 of Windsor, Missouri was operating a 2000 Kawasaki.

At that said date and time, Wayne Maxwell was pulling out of a private drive on Route Y, while Aaron Miller was headed eastbound on Route Y. Aaron applied his breaks to try and avoid the collision, but lost control. Aaron struck the rear of the truck, and then overcorrected causing him to overturn. Aaron was ejected while his motorcycle traveled off the right side of the roadway.

Aaron Miller was pronounced deceased at the scene by Johnson County Coroner C.L. Holdren at 12:15 p.m., and was transported to Swinney Phillips Funeral Services in Warrensburg, Missouri. It is unknown if Wayne Maxwell was injured.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, both Wayne, and Aaron were wearing safety devices at the time of the accident.

Aaron’s 2000 Kawasaki was totaled and towed by Tip Top Towing. Wayne’s 2006 GMC received minor damages and was driven from the scene.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Crash Patrol and with the assistance of Troop A. This is Troop A 25th fatality accident, and 32nd fatality.
