Head on Collision Leads to Serious Injuries

In Franklin County, three people were injured due to a head-on collision.

On August 5, 2014 at approximately 12:03 pm, Alexander Biener, age 18 of New Haven, Missouri was operating a 1998 Ford Taurus, accompanied by passenger Aaron Westhoff, age 15 of Washington, Missouri. Michael Barlish, age 46 of Gerland, Missouri was operating a 2000 Ford Ranger.

At that said date and time, Alex Biener was traveling in the southbound direction on Missouri Route A north of four mile road. Michael Barlish was travelling in the northbound direction when he crossed the center line and struck Biener’s vehicle head-on.

Alex received moderate injuries and was transported by Washington EMS to Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri. The passenger of Alex’s vehicle, Aaron Westhoff received moderate injuries and was also transported by Washington EMS to Mercy Hospital. Michael received serious injuries and was transported by air evacuation to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur.

Alex Biener’s 1998 Ford Taurus recieved total damages and was towed by Strums Towing. Michael Barlishs’ 2000 Ford Ranger also recieved total damages and was towed by Strums Towing.

Biener and Westhoff were reported to have both been wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident. Barlish was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.

This head-on collision was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop H.
