Marion County, Missouri-
A head-on collision occurred on U.S. Highway 36, 5 miles east of Monroe City, on Sunday June 12th at about 3:00 p.m.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, a 1987 Corvette being driven Gary C. Garner of Monroe City, was eastbound when Garner lost control and entered into oncoming, westbound traffic. Garner’s Corvette collided head-on into a 2013 Toyota Prius, driven by David P. Workman, 54, of Naperville, Illinois.
David Workman and a passenger, Samantha H. Workman, 18, also of Naperville, both sustained serious injuries in the crash. They were rushed to Hannibal Regional Hospital by the Marion County Ambulance Service.
Troopers say Garner’s Corvette was engulfed in flames when emergency personnel arrived. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Marion County Coroner Darrel McCoy at approximately 3:52 p.m.
The fatality accident was investigated by Cpl Behrens, 302, of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Troop B. He was assisted by Tpr P. R. Henry, 1372, Tpr. Conrad, 237, Tpr Brubaugh, 1367, Cpl Bryan, 384, the MCIU Team 2, the Marion COunty Sheriff’s Department, the Monroe City Fire Department and the Palmyra Fire Department.
