Trenton Missouri-

The town of Trenton Missouri is mourning today due to a single car accident that has claimed the lives of four from Trenton, three of them are siblings.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol report states the accident occurred on Highway 190, approximately one half mile west of the Grundy – Daviess County line.

The victims are driver, Trey Shaw, 20, along with passengers and good friends, Matheson Knapp, 19, Malachi Knapp, 18, and their sister, Micah Knapp, 31.

The highway patrol reported a 1994 Isuzu Rodeo SUV, was eastbound on Highway 190 when it traveled partially off the south side of the road. Trey Shaw then over-corrected causing the vehicle to return to the road, skid, and began to travel off the north side. The vehicle then traveled parallel to the road, down an embankment, became airborne, and struck a ditch. The Isuzu Rodeo came to rest in the ditch, on it’s wheels and facing northwest. The report notes none of the occupants were wearing their seatbelts and also indicates that approximately seven hours passed between when the accident happened and when bodies were found.

The Patrol reports the vehicle was difficult to see from the roadway and that the accident wasn’t discovered until several hours after when it’s believed to have occurred. The report shows the accident happened at 1:40 p.m., Tuesday afternoon, June 6th. The occupants were pronounced dead at the scene at 8:50 p.m. last night by Daviess County Coroner David McWilliams.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted by Grundy County Sheriff’s Department, Grundy County Rural Fire Protection, Grundy County Emergency Medical Services, Jamesport Fire and Rescue and several first responders.

Acording to a Facebook post, the three Knapp boys had been described as missing since being seen in Jamesport about 1 p.m. on Tuesday. It also noted phone calls to their cell phones went to voice messaging. A different Facebook post had stated a search of the Jamesport area was being conducted last evening.

The highway patrol report said the body of Trey Shaw was transported by the coroner to Frontier Forensics in Kansas City, Kansas where an autopsy is to be conducted. The other three were released last night to Slater Funeral Home in Trenton. These four young men are the first traffic fatalities of this year for Daviess County.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire families of Trey Shaw and Matheson, Malachi and Micah Knapp. May God bless you and comfort you in the difficult time ahead.
