9-year-old Killed in Head-on Collision

In Lincoln County, a young boy is killed in a head-on collision while with his family.

On November 21, 2012 at approximately 5:40 a.m., Angela Simpson, age 29, was operating a 1997 Mercury Sable. Angela’s passengers were David D. (32), David W. (9), and Dana (8) Simpson. The Simpson family is residents of Winfield, Missouri. Randolph James, age 32 from Troy, Missouri was operating a 1997 Ford Ranger.

At that said time and place, Angela Simpson was traveling in the westbound direction on Highway 47, west of Lindsey Road, while Randolph James was in the eastbound direction. The crash occurred as Randolph crossed the center line and the front of his vehicle collided with Angela’s vehicle head-on.

David W. Simpson was transported to Cardinal Glennon Hospital by the Lincoln County ambulance and pronounced dead by Dr. Andrew Smith. David, Angela, and Dana Simpson all received moderate injuries from the collision and were transported by Lincoln County ambulance to the Cardinal Glennon Hospital. Randolph James received moderate injuries and was transported by Lincoln County ambulance to St. Joseph West Medical Center. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, all passengers involved in this crash were wearing seat belts except David D. Simpson.

Angela Simpson’s 1997 Mercury Sable and Randolph James’ 1997 Ford Ranger received total damages. Both vehicles were towed by El Rancho Towing.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop C.
