St. James, Missouri in Phelps County-
A Missouri State Highway Patrol report confirms that two men were killed in a terrible head-on collision on Highway 68 in Phelps County.
The accident occurred shortly before 8:30 a.m. on Sunday November 5th, 2017. The location was on Highway 68 approximately one and a half miles south of Highway 8.
According the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Richard Brown, 78, of Cook Station, Missouri was northbound on Highway 68 and crossed the center of the roadway while driving a 2004 Ford pickup truck. Brown’s Ford truck crashed head-on into a southbound, 2001 Dodge pickup truck, driven by Adam Peck, 34, of St. Peters, Missouri.
Troopers said both trucks went off the road and Peck’s truck overturned. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene by Phelps County Coroner, Andy Davis. The report stated that Brown was not wearing a seatbelt and Peck was wearing his seatbelt.
Trooper WW Fair, 435, of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Troop I, investigated the crash and was assisted by Sgt. SW Cunningham, 285, Sgt. JD Cox, 654, Sgt. P Meyers, 1183, Cpl. JR McCurdy, 750, Tpr. JS Leathers, 822, and Tpr. JN Rigsby, 1196.
Spurgeon’s Towing assisted with the cleanup of both totaled trucks while the Phelps County Coroner transported the bodies of both men.
It has been reported that Adam Peck was one of the incredible volunteers that traveled to Florida to help victims of the devastating hurricane.
