Airborne Vehicle Injures Four

In Ray County, a one-vehicle crash injures four Richmond residents after the vehicle becomes airborne and overturns several times.

On May 28, 2012 at approximately 10:15 p.m., Jacob Clevenger, age 20 and of Richmond, Missouri was operating a 2000 Pontiac and traveling in the eastbound direction on Crispin Road. Jacob had three other passengers along in the vehicle with him during the time of the crash; Justin McCubbin (18), Ian Werle (17), and Brandon Lee (15).

At that said time and place, Jacob Clevenger was traveling eastbound on Crispin Road, just east of Institute, when the crash occurred. The crash occurred when Jacob lost control of his vehicle, which caused the vehicle to travel off the left side of the road. Then the vehicle struck an embankment, traveled down into a deep ravine, became airborne, overturned several times, and impacted the ditch before the vehicle came to a final rest.

The driver, Jacob Clevenger, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond, Missouri. Passenger, Brandon Lee, also suffered serious injuries from the crash and was transported by Ray County ambulance to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Justin McCubbin received moderate injuries from the crash and was taken by a private vehicle to the Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond for medical treatment. Ian Werle sustained minor injuries and according to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Ian Werle reported to be uninjured and refused medical treatment.

Jacob Clevenger’s 2000 Pontiac received total damages from the crash and was towed by Carmichael’s Tow in Richmond, Missouri.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop A.
