Baby Injured in Head-on Collision


In Greene County, a baby receives injuries after the at-fault driver failed to stop and collided head-on into their vehicle.

On November 28, 2013 at approximately 2:25 p.m., Michael Atkinson, age 28 of Brookline, Missouri was operating a Gold Pontiac Grand AM along with Crystal Rockholm, age 28, and Izzabella Atkinson, age 0. Ekaterina Sherman was operating a Black Mazda 5 SUV.

At that said date and time, Michael Atkinson was traveling in the southbound direction while Ekaterina Sherman was traveling in the eastbound direction on Farm Road 140 and Farm Road 115, just north of Republic, Missouri. The crash occurred as Ekaterina failed to stop at a stop sign and collided head-on with the front left of Michael’s vehicle.

Crystal Rockholm received serious injuries and was transported to ambulance to Mercy Hospital. Michael Atkinson was transported by a private vehicle to Mercy Hospital with minor injuries. The baby, Izzabella Atkinson, received minor injuries and was transported by EMS to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, neither Michael Atkinson nor Crystal Rockholm was wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash. The crash report also indicates that Ekaterina Sherman was uninjured and did not seek medical attention.

Michael Atkinson’s Pontiac Grand AM received total damages and Ekaterina’s Mazda 5 SUV received extensive damages. Both vehicles were towed by Henry’s Towing.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop D.
