Both Drivers Killed in Head-on Collision

In Franklin County, the two drivers of separate vehicles are dead after they were involved in a head-on collision with each other.

On February 12, 2013 at approximately 4:39 p.m., Amanda Witthaus, age 27 from Hermann, Missouri was operating a 2011 Hyundai. Austin Vanbooven, age 21 from Rhineland, Missouri was operating a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu.

At that said date and time, Amanda was traveling in the westbound direction while Austin was in the eastbound direction on Missouri Route 100 and .1 mile west of Grant School Road. The collision occurred as Austin Vanbooven crossed the center line and collided with oncoming vehicle, Amanda Witthaus.

Amanda Witthaus and Austin Vanbooven were pronounced dead at the scene by the New Haven Ambulance District personnel and then were transported to the St. Louis County Morgue. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Amanda Witthaus was the only occupant wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Austin Vanbooven’s 2005 Chevrolet Malibu and Amanda Witthaus’ 2011 Hyundai received total damages and were towed by Sturm’s Towing.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop C.
