Columbia Fatal Head-on Collision

In Boone County, the death of a 19-year-old is a result from a head-on collision.

On April 24, 2014 at approximately 7:11 a.m., Briana Forrest, age 19 of Ashland, Missouri was operating a 2014 Dodge Avenger. Trudy Lakes, age 34 of Columbia, Missouri was operating a 2009 Ford Expedition.

At that said date and time, Briana was traveling in the westbound direction while Trudy was traveling in the southbound direction on US 63 at Peterson Lane. The crash occurred as Briana was crossing US 63 from Forsee Road and failed to yield to Trudy’s vehicle. Trudy’s vehicle collided with the passenger side of Briana’s vehicle.

Briana Forrest sustained serious injuries and was transported in critical condition to University Hospital. Later, Dr. Brown on University Hospital pronounced Briana Forrest as dead. Trudy Lakes received serious injuries and was life-flighted to University Hospital and then later transported to Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Briana Forrest was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the collision.

Both vehicles received total damages and were towed by Carl’s Towing of Columbia, Missouri.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop F. This is Troop F’s 5th fatality for April and 14th fatality for 2014.
