Couple in Motorcycle Crash Results in Serious Injuries

In Monroe County, a couple from Perry, Missouri crash on their motorcycle leaving them in critical condition.

On June 16, 2012 at approximately 9:45 p.m., David Berry, age 41, and was operating a 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle and traveling eastbound on US highway 24. His wife, Leah, age 40, was the only passenger involved in this crash.

At that said time and place, David Berry was traveling eastbound on US highway 24, 3.5 miles west of Paris, Missouri in Monroe County when David lost control of his motorcycle in the loose gravel. Due to David losing control of his vehicle, the motorcycle overturned and ejected himself and his wife, Leah. At 9:47 p.m., two minutes after the accident, a 2010 Lincoln MKX driven by Benjamin Morgan, age 23 and of Moberly, Missouri struck Leah Berry when she was crawling across the roadway. Then two minutes later at 9:49 p.m., a 1999 Chevrolet Lumina driven by Kimberly Roberts, age 42 and of Moberly, Missouri also struck Leah Berry. This is the second time Leah Berry was struck by an oncoming vehicle as she was attempting to crawl across the roadway and after she was thrown from the motorcycle.

David Berry received moderate injuries from the crash and was transported by Monroe County ambulance to the University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Leah Berry suffered serious injuries and was also transported by ambulance to the University Hospital for medical treatment.

David’s 2011 Harley Davidson received extensive damages and was towed by Cummins of Paris. Benjamin Morgan’s 2010 Lincoln and Kimberly Robert’s 1999 Chevrolet both received minor damages and were able to be driven from the scene of the crash.

This motorcycle crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop B, Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, and Paris Rural Fire Department.
