Crash Caused by Failure to Yield

In Stoddard County, moderate and serious injuries are caused by the at-fault driver’s failure to yield.

On April 3, 2013 at approximately 6:45 p.m., David Below, age 37 from Advance, Missouri was operating a 2012 GMC Sierra. Patrick Eggiman, age 46 from Advance, Missouri was the only passenger inside David’s vehicle at the time of the crash. Phillip Shelton, age 47 from Malden, Missouri was operating a 2010 Ford F150. Denny Blake, age 64 from Malden, Missouri was Phillip’s only passenger inside the vehicle.

At that said date and time, David Below was traveling in the westbound direction as Phillip Shelton was traveling in the eastbound direction on Route U and 4 miles west of Bernie. The crash occurred as Phillip Shelton failed to yield and pulled into the path of David’s vehicle. Phillip’s vehicle collided with David’s vehicle.

David Below and Patrick Eggiman received serious injuries from the crash and were air evacuated to St. Francis in Cape Girardeau. Denny Blake received serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Popular Bluff Regional Health Center. Phillip Shelton was moderately injured in the crash and was taken by a private vehicle to Popular Bluff Regional Health Center.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, all the participants, except for Patrick Eggiman, were wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision.

David Below’s 2012 GMC Sierra and Phillip Shelton’s 2010 Ford F150 received total damages. Both vehicles were towed by Tillman’s Wrecker.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop E.
