Crash in Pettis County


In Pettis County, a woman is seriously injured after another vehicle drove into her path and forced her off the road and down an embankment.

On March 22, 2014 at approximately 11:10 a.m., Linda Ekstrom, age 58 of Sedalia, Missouri was operating a 2010 Kia. Pedro Contreras, age 53 of Sedalia, Missouri was operating a 1997 Ford.

At that said date and time, Linda was traveling in the northbound direction while Pedro was traveling in the eastbound direction on Missouri Highway 65 at Grand Avenue. The crash occurred as Pedro pulled into the path of Linda’s vehicle which caused Linda to swerve on the roadway to avoid collision with Pedro. She then traveled off the left side of the roadway and down an embankment, colliding with a ditch and a fence.

Linda received serious injuries from the crash and was transported by Staff For Life to the University Hospital. Pedro was uninjured and did not seek medical attention.

Linda’s 2010 Kia received extensive damages and was towed by Don’s Towing. Pedro’s 1997 Ford did not receive any damages and was driven from the scene of the crash.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop A and the Sedalia Police Department.
