Crash Involving Wrong Way Driver


In Benton County, a young man of Sedalia is seriously injured when a wrong way driver forced his vehicle off the road.

On January 26, 2014 at approximately 6:30 a.m., Jimmy Brown, age 25 of Sedalia, Missouri was operating a 2008 Toyota. Kristopher Johnson, age 30 of Kansas City, Missouri was operating a 2010 Ford.

At that said date and time, Jimmy Brown was traveling in the southbound direction while Kristopher was traveling in the southbound direction but in the wrong direction on Missouri Highway 7 and .7 miles east of Bethel Avenue. The crash occurred as Kimmy crossed the center line to avoid the wrong way driver but overcorrected and ran off the right side of the roadway. Jimmy’s vehicle overturned and then collided with an utility pole. The guide-wire sagged across the roadway and Kristopher collided with the guide-wire.

Jimmy Brown received serious injuries from the crash and was transported by Lake Regional in Camdenton by Staff For Life. Kristopher was uninjured and did not seek medical attention.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, both Jimmy and Kristopher were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

Jimmy’s 2008 received total damages and was towed by Tolliver’s. Kristopher’s 2010 Ford received minor damages and was driven from the scene of the crash.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop A, Benton County Sheriff’s Department, Deer Creek Fire Department, and Warsaw Lincoln ambulance.
