Danny Hawthorne of St. Joseph Missouri is Tragically Struck By A Car and Killed

Springfield, Missouri-  
The initial accident was fairly minor. What came next was nothing short of tragic.
On February 20th, 2018, at approximately 7:15 p.m., an initial crash happened at the intersction of Missouri Highway 13 and Route 0, about 4 miles north of Springfield Missouri in Greene County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Thomas R. Woods, 31, of Elkland MO ran a red light at the intersection and crashed his 1995 Geo Prism into a 2007 Toyota RAV4 that was being driven by Kathryn A. Stewart, 33, of Willard.

The impact caused the Toyota to strike a sign and a light post.

Shortly after the crash, as a passenger in the Prism was assisting other passengers to get out of the vehicle, a 2010 Pontiac G6 driven by Seth A. Raney, 25, of Willard, slammed into the Prism and struck the passenger.

The passenger who was hit  and later died from his injuries was identified as Danny R. Hawthorne, 38, of St. Joseph, Missouri.

Raney, Hawthorne and another passenger in the Prism, Crystal A. Ricks, 22, of Cranes, were all rushed to Mercy Hospital in Springfield with serious injuries. Danny Hawthorne was pronounced deceased 3 days later on February 23rd, 2018 at approximately 9:09 p.m., at Mercy Hospital by Dr. Eric Leuhr.

Woods suffered moderate injuries and was also taken to Mercy Hospital.

Stewart and her passengers, Samuel B. Stewart, 4, and Bailey G. Stewart, 1, both of Willard, were all transported to Mercy Hospital with minor injuries.

The crashes were investigated by CPL. M.D. Adams, 463, and his reports were #180103328 and #180103315.
