In St. Francois County, a man from De Soto was killed and two others seriously injured on Saturday afternoon.
On September 24, 2011 at approximately 4:55 p.m., Jamie Becker, 35, from Cadet, Missouri was operating a 2002 Hyundai Accent and traveling in the northbound direction on Highway 67, .8 miles north of Cash Lane. Occupants of driver, Jamie Becker, are Alicia Mahan, 28, from Imperial, Missouri and Jeremy Proffer, 28, and from De Soto, Missouri.
At that said time and place, Jamie was traveling northbound in the right lane of Highway 67. Jamie changed from the right to the left lane and suddenly over steered to the right, causing the vehicle to travel off the roadway. Jamie’s vehicle then struck a rock bluff and overturned.
Jeremy Proffer was pronounced fatal at 1740 hours by St. Francois County Coroner, James Copeland.
The result of this crash left the at-fault driver, Jamie Becker, with very serious injuries and was taken to Barnes St. Louis by Arch Helicopter. His occupant, Alicia Mahan, sustained very serious injuries as well, she was taken to Barnes St. Louis by air evacuation. The fatality of Jeremy Proffer was taken to Mineral Area Hospital by the St. Francois Coroner.
All participants of this auto-crash were found to not be wearing their seat belts.
This crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and assisted by Sergeant J. Ellsworth #239 in Troop C.
