De Soto, Missouri Elderly Man Injured in T-Bone Crash

Jefferson County crash involving two vehicles leaves elderly man of De Soto, Missouri injured.

On December 8, 2011 at approximately 9:10 p.m., 73 year old Dorthy Dorlac of De Soto, Missouri was operating a 2008 Ford Focus traveling southbound on Route E at Klondike Road. Dorlac’s vehicle was occupied by herself and 82 year old John Dorlac, also of De Soto, Missouri.

At that said time and place, 33 year old Maria Griggs of Potosi, Missouri was operating a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier traveling northbound on Route E. Griggs was not transporting any passengers. While attempting to make a turn onto Klondike Road, Griggs failed to yield to the Dorlac vehicle. The front of Griggs’ vehicle struck the right side of the Dorlac vehicle.

Passenger John Dorlac was taken from the scene of the crash by Valle Ambulance to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries. No injury information was listed for Dorthy Dorlac or the at-fault driver, Maria Griggs. All parties involved were wearing their safety devices at the time of the crash.

The Dorlac vehicle sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene of the crash by Tom’s Towing. The at-fault vehicle, driven by Maria Griggs, sustained total damage in the crash and was also towed from the scene by Tom’s Towing. It is unknown whether the Dorlac vehicle was insured at the time of the crash. The at-fault driver, Griggs, did not possess insurance coverage for her vehicle at the time of the crash.

This crash was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper E. Van Winkle of Troop C.
