Detached Tow Unit Collides with Car Head-on

In Henry County, two residents of Edwards, Missouri were seriously injured after a truck’s tow unit detached from the vehicle and collided with the oncoming car.

On June 25, 2012 at approximately 2:02 p.m., Sharon Schuetz, age 71 and of Edwards, Missouri was operating a 2008 Ford Taurus and traveling in the southbound direction. Sharon’s husband, Bernard, age 76, was the only passenger in the vehicle during the time of the collision. Robert McGee, age 39 and of O’Lathe, Kansas was operating a 2001 Ford F350 and traveling in the northbound direction.

At that said time and place, Sharon was traveling southbound on Missouri highway 7 of route U as Robert McGee was traveling northbound. The crash collision occurred when Robert McGee’s tow unit separated from his vehicle and traveled across the center line and collided with Sharon and Bernard’s vehicle head-on.

Sharon and Bernard both suffered serious injuries from the head-on collision with the tow unit. They both were transported by Life Flight to Research Medical Hospital. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Robert McGee was uninjured and did not seek medical treatment.

Sharon Schuetz’s 2008 Ford Taurus received total damages from the collision and was towed by Golden Valley Tow. Robert McGee’s 2001 Ford F350 received total damages and was towed by a private party.

This crash collision was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop A and the Henry County Sheriff’s Department.
