Driver Falls Asleep at the Wheel


In Sainte Genevieve County, the driver of a vehicle falls asleep and rear-ends another vehicle.

On June 17, 2013 at approximately 11:23 p.m., Taylor Jokerst, age 20 of Sainte Genevieve, Missouri was operating a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu. John Walker, age 65 of Des Moines, Iowa was operating a 2000 Dodge Caravan along with passenger Roger Waters, age 53 of Bullhead, Arizona.

At that said date and time, Taylor Jokerst and John Walker were traveling in the southbound direction on I-55 at the 149 mile marker. The crash occurred as Taylor fell asleep at the wheel and the front of her vehicle rear-ended John’s vehicle.

John Walker and Roger Waters received moderate injuries from the rear-end collision and were transported by Sainte Genevieve ambulance district to the Sainte Genevieve County Memorial Hospital.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Taylor Jokerst didn’t receive injuries from the crash and all the participants were wearing their seat belts.

Taylor’s 2009 Chevrolet Malibu received moderate damages and John Walker’s 2000 Dodge Caravan received total damages. Both vehicles were towed by Stuppy’s Towing.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop C.
