Driver Falls Asleep at Wheel

In Dent County, a driver fell asleep at the wheel with a passenger in their vehicle and travels off the roadway.

On July 22, 2012 at approximately 4:05 a.m., Rachel Durham, age 26 and of Salem, Missouri was operating a 1994 Buick Road Master and traveling south on Missouri highway 68. Jeremy Jackson, age 26 and of Salem, Missouri was the only passenger in Rachel’s vehicle during the time of the crash.

At that said time and place, Rachel was traveling in the southbound direction on Missouri highway 68 when the crash occurred. Rachel fell asleep at the wheel which caused her vehicle to run off the right side of the roadway and strike a ditch embankment.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, both Rachel Durham and Jeremy Jackson were found not to be wearing their seat belts during the time of the crash.

Rachel Durham received minor injuries and Jeremy Jackson received moderate injuries from the crash. Both Rachel and Jeremy were transported by Salem ambulance to Salem Hospital.

Rachel Durham’s 1994 Buick Road Master received extensive damages from the crash and was towed by Whitaker Towing.

This auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of troop I and the Dent County Sheriff’s Office.
