Dunklin County Crash Leads to the Death of Two Women

Two vehicles collided head on in an early morning crash, killing both drivers.

On March 17, 2011 at approximately 4:40am, 42 year old Becky Grubbs of Campbell Missouri was operating a 2001 Chrsyler Sebring traveling northbound on Highway 54 about one half mile north of Campbell. At that said time and place, 49 year old Mira Weller of McDougal Arkansas was operating a 2002 Ford Taurus traveling southbound on Highway 54. Weller then left the southbound lane, traveled into the northbound lane, and struck Grubbs’ vehicle head on.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Coroner Jack Adkins at 5:30am. Next of kin were notified. Becky Grubbs was taken to Landess Funeral Home in Campbell, Missouri. The at-fault driver, Mira Weller, was taken to Irby Funeral Home in Rector, Arkansas.

Both vehicles received total damage. Grubbs’ vehicle was towed by Allgoods Wrecker in Kennett. Weller’s vehicle was towed by Dixie Wrecker Service in Malden. Both drivers were wearing their safety devices. These were fatality numbers 7 and 8 for Troop E in 2011.
