Ejected Teenage Driver Killed in Crash

In Worth County, two teenagers are involved in a roll-over crash that seriously injures the passenger and killed the driver.

On January 18, 2012 at approximately 8:26 p.m., Cody Schrock, age 17 from Grant City, Missouri was operating a 1988 Chrysler Lebaron. Justin Smith, age 17 from Grant City, Missouri was the only passenger inside Cody’s vehicle during the time of the crash.

At that said date and time, Cody Schrock was traveling in the northbound direction on Route Y and 3 miles northwest of Allendale. The crash occurred as Cody was driving north on Route Y when he lost control of his vehicle and traveled off the east side of the roadway. The vehicle overturned twice, ejecting both Cody and Justin from the vehicle.

Cody Schrock was pronounced dead at the scene by Worth County coroner, Dr. Cherri Standing, and then transported to Andrew’s Funeral Home in Grant City. Justin Smith received serious injuries from the crash and was transported by Sheridan ambulance to Albany Regional Medical Center. According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, both Cody and Justin were not wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

Cody Schrock’s 1988 Chrysler Lebaron received total damages and was towed by Mullock’s Garage of Grant City.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop H, Worth County Sheriff’s Department, Worth County Fire and Rescue, and Mercy One helicopter of Iowa.
