Failure to Yield ends in Fatal Car Crash


A 32 year old woman died after failing to yield to a vehicle on US 61 at Rout A in New London, Missouri.

On October 30, 2013 at approximately 7:40 p. m., 32 year old Alice Wisdom from Hannibal, Missouri was operating a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, with 11 year old passenger Alexander Daily. Howard Harrell from Wentsville, Missouri was operating a 2011 Ford F-250.

At that said date and time, Howard Harrell was traveling southbound on US 61 and Alice Wisdom was traveling eastbound on Rout A. Alice failed to yield and pulled into the path of Howard’s truck causing them to collide.

Alice was pronounced dead at the scene by Sheriff Gerry Dinwiddie and transported to O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, Missouri. Alexander Daly received moderate injuries and was transported by Marion County Ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital. Howard and his passenger did not receive injuries.

Alice’s 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera received total damages and was towed by Tallman’s in Hannibal, Missouri. Howard’s 2011 Ford F-250 received extensive damages and was towed by Heartland Towing in Hannibal, Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway patrol Howard was wearing his seat belt but it is unknown if either Alexander or Alex were wearing theirs.

This Fatal crash was investigated by The Missouri State Highway Patrol with assistance from Ralls County Sheriff’s office, New London Fire Department, and Marion County EMS. This is Troops B’s 22 fatality for 2013.
