Fatal Car Crash in Morgan County

In Morgan County, a driver began to overtake another vehicle when an oncoming vehicle crested a hill causing them to collide with one another.

On June 20th, 2014 at approximately 2:52 p.m., Ashley Theobald, age 26 of Kansis City, Missouri was operating a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu with passenger Collette Moreno, age 26 of Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Melvin Garber, age 25 of Versailles, Missouri was operating a 1999 Dodge Ram.

At that said date and time, Ashley Theobald was traveling on Prairie Valley Road when she began to overtake a vehicle as oncoming driver Melvin Garber crested the hill. They attempted to avoid collision by swerving, but Melvin struck the passenger side of Ashley’s vehicle. Ashley traveled off the left side of the roadway and Melvin traveled off the right of the roadway.

Collette Moreno was transported to University Hospital. Collette was pronounced deceased at 5:32 p.m., by Dr. J. Kessel at University Hospital. Ashley Theobald received minor injuries and was transported by Ambulance to University Hospital. Melvin Garber was not injured.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, all involved in this fatality accident were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

Melvin’s 1999 Dodge Ram recived total damages and was towed by D and R towing in Versailles. Ashley’s 2013 Chevrolet Malibu received total damages and was towed by D and R towing in Versailles.

This fatal auto-crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol with the assistance of Troop F, and Troop A’s Crash Team. This is Troop F fatality number six (6) for June, and number thirty (30) for 2014.
