Fatal Crash Involving Snow-covered Roadway

In Buchanan County, a baby was killed after a collision on the snowy roadway that covered Route C.

On January 6, 2014 at approximately 8:00 a.m., Everett Goddard, age 54 of St. Joseph, Missouri was operating a 2002 International 2554 Dump Truck and Snow Plow. Alicca Williams, age 24 of Easton, Missouri was operating a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix along with one-year-old Kaiber Williams.

At that said date and time, Everett was traveling in the northbound direction while Alicca Williams was traveling in the southbound direction. The collision occurred as Everett was clearing the snow-covered roadway on Route C in the northbound direction when Alicca’s vehicle lost control. Alicca then crossed the center line and collided with the plow connected to Everett’s vehicle.

Kaiber Williams was in critical condition and transported by ambulance to Heartland Medical Center, then life-flighted to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Later, Kaiber was pronounced dead by Dr. Raman. Everett Goddard received minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Kaiber Williams was not wearing proper child safety equipment during the time of the collision.

Alicca’s 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix received total damages and was towed by Randy’s Repair of Gower, Missouri. Everett’s 2002 Dump Truck and Snow Plow received minor damages and was driven from the scene at a different time.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop H and the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department. This is Troop H’s 1st fatality for 2014.
