In Livingston County, the driver and passenger of one vehicle are killed after the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control of his vehicle.
On January 25, 2013 at approximately 10:00 p.m., Byron King, age 27 from Chillicothe, Missouri was operating a 2012 Dodge Ram pickup truck. Dakota Nichols, age 19 from Trenton, Missouri was the only passenger in Byron’s vehicle during the time of the crash.
At that said date and time, Byron King was traveling in the eastbound direction on Missouri Highway 190 and 8 miles west of Chillicothe, Missouri. The crash occurred as Byron crested a hill at a high rate of speed and became airborne. When the vehicle landed on the roadway Byron lost control and skidded off the south side of the highway. The vehicle collided with a barb wire fence and a utility pole, overturned numerous times, which caused Dakota to be ejected from the vehicle, and collided with a second utility pole before it came to a rest on its wheels.
Byron King and Dakota Nichols were pronounced dead at the scene by Livingston County coroner and were transported to Lindley Funeral Home.
Byron’s 2012 Dodge Ram pickup received total damages and was towed by Chillicothe Truck Repair and Towing.
This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop H, Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, and the Chillicothe EMS.
