Fatal Head-on Collision Involves Two Deaths


In Boone County, the passenger inside one vehicle and the driver inside another are killed in a fatal head-on collision.

On November 30, 2013 at approximately 7:00 a.m., Richard Van Boening, age 21 of Mexico, Missouri was operating a 2009 Dodge Avenger along with passenger Victoria Singleton, age 22 of Mexico, Missouri. Timmy Bowne, age 46 of Centralia, Missouri was operating a 2002 Chevrolet S-10.

At that said date and time, Richard Van Boening was traveling in the northbound direction while Timmy Bowne was traveling in the southbound direction on Missouri Highway 124 and .5 miles north of Old Missouri Highway 124. The crash occurred as Richard Van Boening crossed the center line and collided with Timmy’s vehicle head-on.

Victoria Singleton and Timmy Bowne were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by the Boone County medical examiner, Dori Burke, and then were transported to the Boone County medical examiner’s office. Richard Van Boening received serious injuries and was transported to the University Hospital via ambulance.

According to the crash report taken from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Victoria Singleton and Richard Van Boening were wearing their seat belts, however Timmy Bowne was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision.

Timmy’s 2002 Chevrolet S-10 and Richard’s 2009 Dodge Avenger received total damages. Both vehicles were towed by Slate Towing.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop F. This is Troop F’s 5th and 6th fatality for November and 42nd and 43rd fatality for 2013.
