Fatal Motorcycle Crash

In Shannon County, the driver on a motorcycle is killed after cresting a hill and collided into a vehicle backing out from a private road.

On January 19, 2014 at approximately 5:05 p.m., Ronald Cunningham, age 44 of Summersville, Missouri was operating a 1998 Mercury. Greg Davis, age 26 of Summersville, Missouri was operating a 2013 Suzuki motorcycle.

At that said date and time, Greg Davis was traveling in the eastbound direction on Missouri Route WW and four miles south of Summersville. The crash occurred as Ronald was backing out from a private drive onto Missouri Route WW when Greg’s motorcycle crested a hill and collided with Ronald’s vehicle. The impact from the collision caused Greg to eject from the motorcycle.

Greg Davis was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Shannon County coroner, Tim Denton, and then transported to Bradford Funeral Home. Ronald Cunningham was uninjured and did not seek medical attention.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Greg Davis was wearing safety equipment while operating the motorcycle.

Greg Davis’ 2013 Suzuki motorcycle received moderate damages and was towed by Gentleman Jim’s Towing of Mountain View, Missouri. Ronald Cunningham’s 1998 Mercury received minor damages and was driven from the scene of the crash.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop G. This is Troop G’s 1st fatality for 2014.
