Fatal Three-car Collision


In Franklin County, one person is killed and a young boy is seriously injured as a result of a three-car collision.

On March 7, 2014 at approximately 9:18 p.m., Jael Clem, age 38 of Pacific, Missouri was operating a 2010 Audi Q5 along with passenger, Yasmin Clem, age 11. Gregory Light, age 49 of Catawissa, Missouri was operating a 2007 Dodge Caliber. Edward Fox, age 23 of Pacific, Missouri was operating a 2013 Chevrolet Sonic.

At that said date and time, Jael Clem and Edward Fox were both traveling in the eastbound direction while Gregory Light was traveling in the westbound direction on Missouri Route O and just west of Jefferson Street. The crash occurred as Jael was traveling behind Edward’s vehicle and attempted to pass Edward on Route O. The front of Jael’s vehicle collided head-on with Gregory’s vehicle as he was traveling westbound along Route O. The impact from the head-on collision caused Jael’s vehicle to overturn and come to a rest on its top. Gregory then traveled off the left side of the roadway.

Gregory Light was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by ambulance personnel and then transported by St. Louis County Morgue by Russell’s Mortuary Services. Yasmin Clem received serious injuries from the head-on collision and was transported to Mercy Medical Center by Meramec ambulance.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Gregory Light was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision.

Gregory Light’s 2007 Dodge Caliber and Jael’s 2010 Audi Q5 received total damages. Both vehicles were towed by Hyndrich Brothers. Edward Fox’s 2013 Chevrolet Sonic received minor damages and was driven from the scene of the crash.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop C.
