Fatality Crash Due to High Rate of Speed


In Johnson County, two people are killed in a high speed crash after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

On November 23, 2013 at 1:45 a.m., Saul Solis, age 22 of Kansas City, Missouri was operating a 2010 Hyundai along with Joe Parks, age 18 of Champaign, Illinois and Monique Hardy, age 22 of Independence, Missouri.

At that said date and time, Saul Solis was traveling in the southbound direction on South Washington Street at Greenwood Circle, Warrensburg. The crash occurred as Saul was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when he crested a hill and lost control of his vehicle, causing the vehicle to collide with a tree.

Saul Solis and Joe Parks were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Johnson County Coroner, C.L. Holdren, and then transported to Sweeny-Phillips Funeral Home. Monique Hardy received serious injuries from the collision and was transported by Life Flight to Research Medical Center in Kansas City.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, neither Monique Hardy nor Joe Parks was wearing their seat belt during the time of the collision. However, Saul Solis was found to be wearing his seat belt.

Saul’s 2010 Hyundai received total damages and was towed by B & L Towing.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop A and the Warrensburg Police Department. This is Troop A’s 53rd fatality crash and fatalities 62 and 63.
