Fatality Crash in St. Louis, County


In St. Louis County, one driver attempts to avoid collision with an animal in the roadway and travels into the lanes of oncoming traffic.

On October 31, 2013 at approximately 6:00 p.m., Michael Ferguson, age 58 of Robertsville, Missouri was operating a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado along with passenger Darby Ferguson, age 19. Linda Binkley, age 65 of Pacific, Missouri was operating a 2012 Chevrolet Captiva along with passenger Dennis Binkley, age 61.

At that said date and time, Michael Ferguson was traveling in the eastbound direction as Linda Binkley was traveling in the westbound direction of Business I-44 and east of Hillview Drive. The crash occurred as Michael Ferguson swerved to avoid an animal in the roadway but lost control of his vehicle. Michael’s vehicle traveled into the westbound lanes and collided with Linda’s vehicle head-on.

Dennis Binkley was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by EMS personnel and then transported by St. Louis Livery to the St. Louis County Morgue. Linda Binkley received serious injuries and was transported by Meramec ambulance to Mercy Creve Coeur. Michael and Darby Ferguson received minor injuries and were transported by Meramec ambulance to Mercy Creve Coeur.

According to the crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Dennis Binkley was the only participate in this crash that was not wearing his seat belt.

Michael Ferguson’s 2004 Chevrolet Silverado and Linda Binkley’s 2012 Chevrolet Impala both received total damages and were towed by Hyndrich Towing.

This fatality crash was investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and with the assistance of Troop C.
